Could Hogwarts Legacy 2 actually be already under development?

Hogwarts Legacy was the biggest-selling game in the world in 2023. So let’s get one thing straight, it will be getting a sequel. Shareholders do not sit on that kind of success story without trying to eke out as much cash from the cow as possibly.
The upside for gamers? Hogwarts Legacy was a great game. Was it the best game ever? No. Was it the best Harry Potter game ever and a lot of fun to play? Absolutely.
Even though Harry Potter is saddled these days with the controversy around JK Rowling and her views on transgender, the wider gaming public lapped up Harry Potter in the millions.
So yeah, we are getting a sequel it is just a case of when. We already know that there is zero DLC coming for Hogwarts, the best PC players are getting is the previously PlayStation-exclusive content Haunted Hogsmeade being added to the base game, so have the devs at Avalanche merely been squashing bugs and working on things such as the Switch version in the meantime? Possibly not.
A new job ad spotted by the folks at Tech4Gamers is looking for a Senior Character Artist with experience in not only Unreal Engine 4 but 5 as well, leading to thoughts that any sequel could be set to be produced in the awesome-looking UE5. Fortunately, with the state the industry is in, it should be pretty easy to recruit one. Or a 100.
The only mention of a game is Hogwarts Legacy but this still proves nothing, devs these days can often work on multiple projects, especially artists, but all the ducks seem to be getting in a row and suggesting that Warner Brothers Discovery and Avalanche may be making preliminary moves towards a follow-up.
Of course, knowing how long Hogwarts Legacy took to reach the shelves we are likely looking at a timeline of years for a blockbuster follow-up – and we are still waiting on the Quidditch spin-off game we were promised when it was absent from Hogwarts, but our Spidey senses are tingling on this one, but just don’t hold your breath.

Anthropic claim new Claude 3 AI chatbot outperforms ChatGPT and Gemini

Amidst fierce competition from tech giants like OpenAI, Google, and Microsoft in the race to develop cutting-edge conversational artificial intelligence (AI), Anthropic’s launch of Claude 3 aims to disrupt the field.
The AI research company has launched its new chatbot which it claims has reached “near-human” levels in some tests, whilst measuring favorably against ChatGPT and Google Gemini across several industry benchmarks.
In an official blog released on Monday (Feb. 4). the details of the large language model (LLM) were disclosed striking a resemblance to Gemini with its own three model levels, Claude 3 Haiku, Claude 3 Sonnet, and Claude 3 Opus.
All “Claude 3 models can power live customer chats, auto-completions, and data extraction tasks where responses must be immediate and in real-time,” but they can be distinguished in terms of their power and functionality.
Haiku, the smallest version of Claude 3, was described as “the fastest and most cost-effective model on the market,” with an impressive output enabling analysis of a research paper with charts and graphs in less than three seconds.
Sonnet is the power behind the Claude.ai chatbot, available for free with an email sign-in, with Opus representing the largest-capacity LLM. It can be accessed with a $20 monthly subscription to the ‘Claude Pro’ service and it benefits from a multi-modal offering, going beyond previous versions to work with both text and image inputs.

Today, we’re announcing Claude 3, our next generation of AI models.
The three state-of-the-art models—Claude 3 Opus, Claude 3 Sonnet, and Claude 3 Haiku—set new industry benchmarks across reasoning, math, coding, multilingual understanding, and vision. pic.twitter.com/TqDuqNWDoM
— Anthropic (@AnthropicAI) March 4, 2024

How does Claude 3 compare to comparative models?
Anthropic, founded by former OpenAI personnel, has lauded the performance outcomes of Claude with Opus displaying higher graduate-level reasoning than GPT-4, scoring 14.7% better than its rival in tests involving maths, coding, and knowledge. Importantly, this latest generation LLM from the Amazon-backed company has exceeded its predecessors:
“For the vast majority of workloads, Sonnet is 2x faster than Claude 2 and Claude 2.1 with higher levels of intelligence. It excels at tasks demanding rapid responses, like knowledge retrieval or sales automation. Opus delivers similar speeds to Claude 2 and 2.1, but with much higher levels of intelligence.”
Anthropi stated Claude 3 has been trained using publicly available and internal data, with hardware from Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud technology.

B52 Stratofortress coming to Microsoft Flight Sim, while Sim Update 15 hits beta

While Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is still heading for a mid-year release, things have definitely gone a little quiet on that front. Fortunately, development of the current version of MSFS continues at its usual speedy pace.
At face value, there are an overwhelming number of aircraft available to fly in MSFS, both courtesy of the devs as well as all the third-party options available. Many though tend to be the more traditional types of plane. What we are going to look at here is a little different as it is a massive nuclear bomber rather than a tiny Cessna.
Under development from SimWorks Studios, the B-52 Stratofortress has been around in one iteration or another since the Cold War, and is famous for the trails of smoke from its engines as it takes off, making it look like it is about to explode.
SimWorks has recently posted some images of the exterior modeling, and this aircraft is still some way away, but the development of something like this is exciting for simmers.
SimWorks said, “The B-52 has been progressing very slowly, but consistently. We currently have the exterior for B-52 models close to completion and a big assortment of different parts. On top of the tall and short tail fins, there are:
— Three different noses: snub nose (models A-F), long nose (G and H), long nose with EVS add-ons (G and H)
— Four different tail gun configurations: B-52A, B-52C through F, B-52G/H with Gattling gun, B-52G/H without Gattling gun, NB-52A, NB-52B
— Two wings: Early B-52 with ailerons, B-52G/H without. There are also wing root strake options indicating that particular B-52s are designated nuclear weapon carriers.
— Three engine types: Early B-52B through E, B-52F/G, B-52H See less.

So it looks as though we are still some way off from seeing this one rumble down our home runways but at least progress is being made.
Microsoft Flight Simulator Sim Update 15
Asobo and Microsoft have pushed out two beta updates in recent days to players signed up to the game’s beta path ahead of the Sim Update 15 going live shortly. Microsoft confirmed that the target date for Sim Update 15 is 26th March and there will be a Developer Livestream on 13th March on the official Twitch Channel.
