The Irish government fixed a vulnerability two years ago in its national COVID-19 vaccination portal that exposed the vaccination records of around a million residents. But details of the vulnerability weren’t revealed until this week after attempts to coordinate public disclosure with the government agency stalled and ended. Behold, TruckBot

One undeniable trend from this year’s Modex conference: suddenly everyone is into truck unloading. The past couple of years have gone from a few select companies to seemingly everyone in and around warehouse robotics looking to tackle the problem. Most solutions are some variation on a basic theme: a robotic arm attached to a mobile […]

PlayStation Exclusive Fortnite skin available for PS Plus subscribers

Fortnite fans can pick up an exclusive skin for the online multiplayer this week.
Lina Scorch is the unlockable character outfit that can be acquired for players who have a PlayStation Plus subscription.
The Blazin’ Wheels Pack has a skin for the online multiplayer brawl and shooter element of Fortnite and the LEGO equivalent. The pack also boasts a cool ‘Gas Up’ back-bling piece that keeps the gas station and roller derby vibes alive for those with access to the subscription.
What is PlayStation Plus?
PlayStation Plus is a membership run by Sony’s console storefront and gives players access to a library of games and trials. As well as those Playstation exclusives gamers will receive exclusive monthly content that ties in with the most popular titles on the console.
A number of these exclusive packs can’t be picked up in game and Sony entices users to sign up to add them to their lockers. Most of these titles are massively multiplayer online games that do have in-game transactions like Genshin Impact.
Fortnite has seen a number of these exclusive packs and they are generally tied in with major updates to the game. The popular multiplayer builder has recently entered another season and is currently celebrating Ramadan with Lantern Fest.
Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 faced a number of downtime hiccups that had gamers less than thrilled that the shooter was in maintenance. The Greek god-inspired takeover of the sandbox shooter, Myths and Mortals, ushers in a whole host of new changes.
This comes on the back of a very well-received limited event involving the teenage mutant ninja turtles. The sai, nunchaku, katana, and staff have been replaced by fiery sets of wings and the throwable thunderbolts of Zeus himself.
“Olympian legends – including Hades and the thunder god Zeus – now rule the island in otherworldly rage. To make matters worse, they’ve brought their powers and weapons with them. Use their mythological means against them in Chapter 5 Season 2: Myths & Mortals!
Despite the lengthy wait times and the Pandora’s box of server issues, players qued up to enjoy the pantheon of Greek mythology taking over the shooter.
The online multiplayer also saw a record player count with a 5,152,863 player peak, proving that users were happy to wait to access the new seasonal content.

Prince of Persia The Lost Crown gets free DLC next week

When The Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown arrived earlier this year it made a lot of friends. It was a superb-looking game and captured the spirit of the original perfectly. It looks great on just about whatever you want to play it on so it is good news that Ubisoft Montpellier is fully committed to supporting it for the long run.
We now have a roadmap showing the studio’s plans up until the end of the year and it all starts on March 20th with a free update DLC called Warrior’s Path.
If you are a Prince of Persia player who needs a little extra challenge in your life, this update might just be for you as it is aimed at players who like things a bit tougher. A new permadeath mode should see you crying into your controllers and there is also a Speedrun Mode for those who think their reflexes are up to it.

Exciting news for Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown!
Three free updates and one story DLC are on the horizon in the coming months.
The first update arrives on March 20!

You will also get some new outfits to play in for Sargon.
The second update, titled Boss Attack has no specific date, merely Spring 2024, and will also be free, bringing with it more outfits and a Boss Rush Mode to see how many you can take out consecutively.
Next up is the third free update, Divine Trials, slated for Summer 2024 and will contain more outfits, and amulets and will be a more comprehensive overhaul of the game, featuring new styles of combat and platform and puzzle challenges. Sounds intriguing.
Finally, “Later in 2024” we will get New Story DLC which presumably will be paid for as it doesn’t mention free on this one and there are no further details as yet as to what that will entail, but it should keep us going back to The Lost Crown for a bit longer yet.

Bitcoin ETF daily inflows breaks $1B

The United States recently approved spot Bitcoin (BTC) exchange-traded funds (ETFs), which experienced another day of record-breaking inflows on March 12.
Data gathered from BitMEX Research shows that net inflows for spot bitcoin ETFs surpassed $1 billion. Blackrock’s IBIT product also saw significant activity, registering a record inflow of $849 million shortly after it reported having over 200,000 BTC assets under management earlier in the week.
In terms of Bitcoin, the inflow for the day reached a record-breaking 14,706 BTC, valued at approximately $72,895.52 per Bitcoin. Since January 11, 2024, total net inflows into Bitcoin ETFs have amounted to $11.1 billion.
In related metrics, as of the latest data, spot Bitcoin ETFs now account for over 90% of the daily trading volume among ETFs that provide exposure to Bitcoin. This marks a new peak in market share dominance. Conversely, Bitcoin futures ETFs have seen their market share decline to just 10%.
A well-received investment contract
The performance of spot ETFs focused on Bitcoin has been overwhelmingly positive, meeting and exceeding benchmarks across various indicators. During a recent interview, Brian Rudick, a Research Analyst at GSR, told The Block, “The success of U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs has far exceeded even the most positive forecasts. Their acquisition of over $10 billion in inflows within two months nearly matches what many anticipated for their first year. Potential factors that could drive further inflows include increased sales efforts by issuers, inclusion in wealth manager portfolios, and the normalization of outflows from GBTC.”
The report follows the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) delaying decisions on the approval of Bitcoin ETF options for trading. The deferral means another 45 days (the maximum of 90 days under the law) to reach a final decision, which is now set for 24 April.

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide to see comprehensive overhaul in 2024

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide’s developer, Fatshark, is planning to revamp the popular four-player title throughout the rest of this year.
The game is a cooperative shooter in the same mold as Left 4 Dead and the fantasy-inspired Vermintied titles the Swedish games studio has produced to great reception.
This title puts you in the shoes of a recent imperial army inductee as part of the Astra Militarum, the rank-and-file grunts of space war in the far-flung future of the Dark Millennium, where the game is set.
You must venture deep into a human warren of immense size, called a Hive, to root out a cult dedicated to pestilence and corruption on behalf of the Inquisition, the enforcer of law and order throughout the galaxy that is tasked with taking out any alien or demonic threat.
Darktide developments
Speaking to the Darktide community, which sits at 108,395 users strong according to SteamDB, the studio broke down its intentions for 2024 via a blog post.
“Our first update will focus on a comprehensive revamp and expansion of the penance system, including adding many additional rewards and a completely new way to earn them,” the message to fans would say.
The penance system is the game’s progress and rewards tracker. As you play a conscript attempting to win back the favor of the God-Emperor, you don’t achieve rewards; rather, you gain penance in the eyes of the all-seeing religious order to spend on cosmetics, trinkets, and a whole host of other items.
Fatshark is looking to overhaul its “current itemization process. With the new system, we want to remove a lot of the unpredictable grind that came from an RNG-heavy system while giving players more agency and a steady progression toward specific load-outs, blessings, and stats refinement.”
The studio goes on to say that in 2024, they will be adding new “missions, new enemies, new weapons, new conditions, and new features alongside balance updates, quality of life additions, along with some other surprises which we will share in due time.”
Fans of the shooter will be excited to see what the studio has to showcase, and although the revamp of the game’s internal mechanics are light on details, Fatshark will be documenting this development journey and will “be sharing more information on this update by the end of the month along with a dev blog, so keep your eyes peeled on our Communication channels to learn more.”

TikTok could soon be launching new app ‘TikTok Photos’

TikTok has exploded in popularity since its inception, so much so other platforms like Instagram and YouTube have taken inspiration from their short-form content style.
Now though, it seems that TikTok may be looking at a future of photos like the other apps that are already out there.
This has been found through a blogger who has taken a deep dive into the app’s APK.
On Mar. 11, TheSpAndroid found a new ‘TikTok Photos’ platform in the latest available version (33.8.4).
While photos are already a feature on the video-sharing tool, in a slideshow format, this evidence would suggest a move to a completely new and separate app, aptly named ‘TikTok Photos.’
In the code unveiled by the Android-focused website, phrases like ‘your post has been shared to TikTok Photos’ and ‘reach other like-minded people who enjoy photo posts.’
More strings of text were found: ‘TikTok Photos will be launched soon, we hope to help you gain new audiences in the new app.
‘If the switch is on, we’ll sync your public photos to the new app, whether you close the pop-up or not.’
Although the data points to an imminent release, the Chinese-based social media hasn’t yet confirmed or announced any details relating to a new app or image-related features.
Over 170 million users could soon be banned from TikTok
The app’s creator has bigger things on their mind this week as The House of Representatives is voting today (Mar. 13) on the future of TikTok in the U.S.
Concerned over data and privacy issues, this vote is the first step in the process to outright ban the app.
If passed, it will then need the Senate to approve the Bill and Joe Biden to sign it. After, the creators Bytedance will have six months to divest itself.
TikTok were approached for comment.
