The DOJ’s case against Apple adds to a growing pile of antitrust problems for Cupertino

On home turf Apple has enjoyed many years of relatively light regulatory scrutiny compared to Big Tech peers. The US Department of Justice (DOJ) opened a monopoly case against Google back in October 2020, for instance. It followed with a second antitrust case at the start of last year, targeting Google’s adtech. While the FTC […]

How to get the Two-Hander Greatsword in Dragon’s Dogma 2

The bigger the sword, the harder they fall, everybody knows that right? Well, if you are starting out in Dragon’s Dogma 2 and you have picked the Warrior Vocation as your chosen path, you are going to need a big two-handed weapon to be taken seriously in this game.
So let’s go and fetch one.
How to find the Two-Hander
You need the Two-Hander to complete the Vocation Quest so it is not an option. To locate it we are going to have to head to a location called Trevo Mine, which, coincidentally also houses the special weapon for the Sorcerer Vocation in a different area of its map.
You can check out the location of Trevo Mine on the map below, but just know it lies west of Vernworth. When you begin to close in on it you should a horde of Goblins guarding an entrance. As much as you might not like to think that’s where you are going, it obviously is. Unlucky.

To enter you will have to kill them all, which as long as you are careful you should manage easily enough. Head inside and take the upper path to the top floor of the mine.
Here you are looking for a room that has a small chest in the center – this contains the Two-Hander. If you are struggling, the room has three doors.
Collect the sword from the chest and travel back to Vernworth where you can now take the Warrior Vocation at the Vocations Guild.
If you collect other vocation weapons on your travels you can switch between Vocations. As we said the Sorcerer’s Staff is in the lower area of the same mine, so you may want to pick that one up at some point in the future as well.

US Senators receive disturbing TikTok spy briefing

On Wednesday (Mar 20), US Senators received a disturbing briefing about TikTok from the FBI, Justice Department and the Director of National Intelligence office.
As the Senate prepares to vote on a bill that could see TikTok banned, senators tell Axios that a classified briefing exposed some “shocking” details about the app’s Chinese links and capabilities.
According to one Senator, national security officials detailed how China could not only harvest and track Americans’ data, but also weaponize it through misinformation and propaganda. Another told the outlet of claims that TikTok could spy on users’ microphones, track keystrokes and otherwise “determine” what users were doing on other apps.
TikTok’s ability to spy is shocking
According to Senator Richard Blumenthal, the briefing’s “level of detail and specificity was extremely impactful,” while Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) noted that the briefing was useful in “bringing some members up to date with the threats that China poses through TikTok.” Senator Eric Schmitt simply added: “Their ability to track, their ability to spy is shocking.”
However, despite these concerns, Axios report that there is little chance of the bill being fast-tracked. On March 21, Senator Mark Warner, chair of the Intelligence Committee, said that the bill would take longer than hoped because that’s “just the way the Senate works.”
But as TikTok’s much-debated ban seems all the more likely, both China and the app are biting back. Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin describes the behavior as “bullying,” arguing that “this kind of bullying behavior that cannot win in fair competition disrupts companies’ normal business activity, damages the confidence of international investors in the investment environment, and damages the normal international economic and trade order.”
Meanwhile, TikTok said in a statement that “we are hopeful that the Senate will consider the facts, listen to their constituents and realize the impact on the economy, 7 million small businesses, and the 170 million Americans who use our service.”

How to get out of jail in Dragon’s Dogma 2

We have all been there after a rough night on the town, suddenly you end up in a cell, anxious to get out before the wife finds out – this is in Dragon’s Dogma 2 of course, not real life, where sooner or later you are going to end up in the gaol.
How to escape prison
There are several ways to get out of prison in Dragon’s Dogma 2, whatever your vocation. None are particularly difficult, but two of them will require some assets and a little pre-planning on your behalf.
Like most law enforcement, prison guards can be susceptible to a healthy bribe (massive generalization there obviously) so if you want to get out with the minimum of fuss, just be aware, it is gonna cost you. And 10,000 gold at that, which is a not unsubstantial amount of cash. Still, if you are loaded and just want to be flashy. Give the guard the coins and be on your way.
Breaking out of prison in Dragon’s Dogma 2
The badass way to escape is to actually break out. Here you need to find a flaw in the aging architecture and make your escape that way. Careful examination of the walls will generally reveal cracks that you can punch your way through and before long you will be out into the sewer system that will lead you to safety.
As soon as you leave the prison you will also get your stuff back automatically as well which saves any messing about.
The final way to get out requires the pre-purchase of a Gaol Key from a merchant, or you may have picked one up during a prior quest. Either way, for some unfathomable reason, when the guards take all your other items from you, you are left with the key which you can unlock your cell with and then sneak out.
If any guard spots you outside of your cell you will be thrown back in, so either sneak out using all your best tip-toeing or just make a speedy bolt for the door before they can get you. Either works, it just depends on how you wish to play the game.
Oh, and this being Dragon’s Dogma you can even buy a Gaol Key as DLC from the online shop for $.0.99 but please do not do that. It just makes life worse and a unicorn dies with every microtransaction.

Ex Ethereum advisor Steven Nerayoff criticizes platform amid SEC scrutiny

Early Ethereum (ETH) advisor Steven Nerayoff has recently expressed serious concerns over the investigation of Ethereum by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Nerayoff claimed in an X thread on Thursday (Mar.21) that the prospects of Ethereum exchange-traded funds (ETFs) might be facing more rigorous examination. The SEC has issued subpoenas to several entities involved with Ethereum and its possible ETFs, signaling intensified regulatory attention.

UNVEILING ETHEREUM’S DECEPTIVE EVOLUTION:The problems with @ethereum, the announcement of the @SECGov investigation, and the ETHGate movement are all due to the founders’ greed and willingness to allow our revolutionary project to become nothing more than a deceptive database…
— Steven Nerayoff (@StevenNerayoff) March 21, 2024

Steven Nerayoff’s Grave accusations
Despite previous disputes with Ethereum’s leadership, including accusing co-founder Vitalik Buterin of being a fraudster, Nerayoff expresses deep disappointment with how Ethereum has evolved. He believes that had his original ideas been implemented, Ethereum would not be encountering its current challenges:
If my invention was followed, we wouldn’t have issues today; Ethereum would still be the base of crypto.
Nerayoff criticizes the Ethereum project for straying from its original vision, attributing the SEC’s investigation and the emergence of the ETHGate movement to the founding team’s greed. He argues that this deviation has turned Ethereum into a “deceptive database” manipulated by a select few at the expense of the broader community.
Ethereum is built on deceit and lies, and they think you’re all dumb enough to not be the wiser. Well, I am, and I am saying to all of you, don’t allow this to happen a day more. The Ethereum house of deceit must fall once & for all!
Nerayoff particularly highlights the rise of scam Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) and the resulting erosion of trust as outcomes of current Ethereum leadership moving away from his initial concepts. He also highlights the non-fungible token (NFT) craze which he described as “a handful of people creating tokens and rug pulling them.”
This is not the first time that Nerayoff voiced concerns over Ethereum and its leadership. Back in September 2023, he suggested that the ecosystem received preferential treatment from regulators through an infiltration of regulatory bodies. In an audio of a nearly three-hour call with Buterin shared back in November 2023, he warned the Ethereum co-founder:
I am fairly convinced that securities laws and these other laws have been tripped.
The controversy follows Ethereum’s recent introduction of the Dencun protocol upgrade. Still, despite the upgrade having a significant impact on the protocol’s fees Solana was able to overtake Ethereum’s decentralized exchange volume soon after.

DeathSprint 66 – A cyberpunk Track and Field for adults?

The latest press release and trailer from Sumo Digital for the freshly announced DeathSprint 66 conjures up images of The Running Man, Track and Field, and even Fall Guys without ever letting you get a glimpse behind the scenes at what to really expect.
Billed as a new Bloodsport, the Cyberpunked-up trailer shows robotic athletes lining up on the start line, presumably for some kind of futuristic Olympic 100m sprint, but we are also promised that they will be eviscerated like never before:
“Tune in to see streams of blood splatter the course, as eight racers dash through our trap-filled tracks, facing off against deadly buzzsaws, perilous leaps, and the biggest threat of all – each other. Heads will roll, just like you always wanted them to!”
See, now your interest is peaked too. The trailer is only the announcement trailer so presumably we will get to see much more as the months roll by as the game is expected to launch at some point this year. It is purely a teaser at the moment and even a tiny bit of, er sprinting or evisceration would have been nice. There is a sentence you only ever write when you are a games journalist.

So the takeaway so far, the premise looks and sounds cool, but can we have some game to get excited about, please?
DeathSprint 66 features
It’s not clear what the 66 aspect relates to either yet, but it’s obviously in the future. It seems unlikely to be 2066 but with the way the world is going, who knows?

Eight players on foot racing mayhem in The Deadliest Show on Earth
Dodge buzzsaws, lasers, and Death Pits to stay on course
Earn Hype to boost past other runners, or gain weapons and tools to get the upper hand
Survive races and earn sponsorships to customize your clone’s bodysuits

Hopefully it won’t be packed full of microtransactions like Dragon’s Dogma 2 turned out to be.
