Fallout’s official backpack goes on sale, it’s as functional as it is fun to wear

Fallout fans in general — and fans of Amazon’s Fallout TV show in specific — can soon get their hands on an official Vault 33 backpack and bedroll for just £199.99. The kit is as functional as it is stylish, coming with a yellow fleece blanket to keep you warm out in the wasteland.
Listed today by Game, the British video games retailer, “Lucy’s Vault 33 Backpack” is available for preorder, to be delivered Sept. 30. For those in different markets, Bethesda Softworks also has an official listing with the option to be notified when it is on sale locally.

The Vault 33 backpack and bedroll has a 20 liter capacity, including a compartment that fits a laptop up to 16 inches. “Using tough, resilient fabric and vegan leather,” the product description says, “this is the ultimate backpack for everyday use.”
The topper is the blankie, of course, which will keep a gamer cozy on their couch even if they have no intention of venturing outside. It measures 130 cm by 80 cm, large enough to snuggle the most grizzled Vault Dweller, Brotherhood of Steel acolyte, or Super-Mutant in training.
Bethesda has done the backpack thing with Fallout before, although the first time it didn’t go so well. When Fallout 76 launched in 2018, buyers of a $200 Collector’s Edition were crestfallen to receive a nylon bag instead of the canvas duffle promised in promotional images.
Bethesda later explained that the bag shown in promotional materials was a prototype and too expensive to make at scale, resulting in the nylon substitute.
This looks like the real deal, however. Fallout, starring Ella Purnell as Lucy MacLean, debuted on Amazon Prime April 10 with all eight episodes of its first season. The series is confirmed for a second season starring Purnell and Walton Goggins. The interest it has generated in the Fallout franchise has been so intense it has crashed mod sites and skyrocketed player count numbers for games that are almost 10 years old.

Scam alert for Android users as ‘Brokewell’ malware threatens users’ bank accounts

Android phone users who use Google Chrome as their main browser are being warned about a severe malware currently circulating that has the potential to empty bank accounts.
Analysts at ThreatFabric recently discovered a new virus called “Brokewell,” which had extensive Device Takeover capabilities. The threat intelligence company discovered a fake browser update page designed to install an Android application. Screenshots of the two browsers showed how difficult it is to spot the fraud.
According to the security firm, it also poses a “significant threat to the banking industry,” as it provides hackers with remote access to all assets available through mobile banking.
“The Trojan appears to be in active development, with new commands added almost daily,” they stated.
Brokewell is reportedly a common modern banking virus equipped with both data-stealing and remote-control capabilities built into the malware. It uses overlay attacks, a common technique for Android banking malware, where it displays a bogus screen on a targeted application to capture user information.
Experts discovered that the malware, which copied a fake Google Chrome update, was also used alongside Klarna, a well-known “buy now, pay later” financial service, and a digital authentication application from Austria.
After stealing these details, the hackers then can initiate a Device Takeover attack using remote control capabilities. The malware performs screen streaming and provides the attacker with the ability to touch, swipe, and click on various elements.
ThreatFabric warns of the likely evolution and daily updates of the Brokewell malware, potentially offered as a rental service on underground channels. It stresses that only robust, multi-layered fraud detection systems can effectively counteract such malware, which poses significant risks to financial institution customers.
How do I know if an app has malware or is a fake app?
Cybersecurity company Kaspersky recommends taking a number of precautions before downloading an app.

Deleting it
Restarting your phone
Running an antivirus
Reporting the fake app to the relevant app store to protect others

Other steps you can take to protect yourself from fake apps include:

Consider carefully before downloading apps, opting only for those that you find genuinely useful
When downloading apps, prioritize official app stores
If searching for a specific app, use a trusted search engine to guide you to the authentic version
For popular apps, visit the developer’s official site and locate the appropriate link
Always look carefully at app details—such as the developer’s identity, user reviews, and download counts—to avoid counterfeit or harmful apps
Avoid clicking links that offer unbelievable promises
Android users should be wary of unexpected SMS messages, alerts, or unusual requests seemingly from familiar entities—proceed with caution
Make sure to read the fine print and understand the permissions requested by any app you download
Also, get acquainted with the security features available on your mobile devices.

Tesla’s entire Supercharger team has been fired

The Tesla Supercharger team, responsible for managing and developing electric vehicle charging stations throughout the United States, has been fired.
Tesla’s strategic charging programs lead William Jameson broke the news via X. His post said “Confirmed – @Tesla @elonmusk has let our entire charging org go. What this means for the charging network, NACS, and all the exciting work we were doing across the industry, I don’t yet know. What a wild ride it has been.”
Tesla developed the North American Charging Standard (NACS), which has been opened to other manufacturers over the past few years. The national provision of the charging stations was seen as a success, especially given the deals made with rival companies to use these locations.
Tesla Supercharger team axed
The news of offloading staff comes after a turbulent few weeks for Tesla and Elon Musk. Due to pressure from rival car manufacturers, the car company slashed many of its marquee and flagship models globally and a national product recall was issued for Cybertrucks as an accelerator issue risked lives.
Musk said in a memo, first reported by The Information, that the electric car maker had to be “absolutely hardcore” in cutting costs.
Drew Baglino, chief of Tesla’s Powertrain, and Rohan Patel, Head of Business Development, handed in their resignations after the news that a 10% reduction in headcount was needed.
Musk continued his statement on slimming down Tesla “As part of this effort, we have done a thorough review of the organization and made the difficult decision to reduce our headcount by more than 10% globally. There is nothing I hate more, but it must be done. This will enable us to be lean, innovative, and hungry for the next growth phase cycle.”
This next growth phase cycle would not include 14,000 staff and Rebecca Tinucci, the lead of the Supercharger team, and Daniel Ho, the Head of New Products.
Musk posted to X after the layoffs saying “Tesla still plans to grow the Supercharger network, just at a slower pace for new locations and more focus on 100% uptime and expansion of existing locations.”
This slower pace may be due to the slower earnings and growth the company reported earlier this month. These decisions to cut the cost of electric vehicles, high-profile staff, and a tenth of the company headcount can, in part, be attributed to a less-than-favorable fourth-quarter earnings report.

Gray Zone Warfare – What are the differences between it and Escape from Tarkov? And is it actually any good?

Milsim Gray Zone Warfare launched into Early Access yesterday and was immediately hit with the usual swathe of server errors followed up by a reviewing bombing on Steam which saw it slump to Mainly Negative as people stuck the camo boot in way too quickly.
The review ship has steadied now and it sits at Mixed, but is it any good – how different to Escape from Tarkov is it (which has also recently come under pressure), and will it get better as time goes on?
Let’s investigate.
Gray Zone Warfare vs Tarkov Maps
The way both games handle their respective maps is very different ways beyond the initial size difference. Escape from Tarkov’s map size comes in at 16 km sq whereas Gray Zone Warfar’s is a chunky 42 sq km. The playable spaces are dealt with differently as well as Tarkov breaks the game sizes down to 1.5 km sq squares. GZW just goes for it which has the consequence of making games feel less tightly packed.
Not that that is a bad thing. Tarkov forces players to get embroiled in close combat firefights whether they want to or not. And that is not always everybody’s preferred gameplay style. Anybody who hangs back from this kind of combat tends to get picked off by waiting snipers which can be frustrating.

GZW vs Tarkov gameplay
Solo play is pretty much rewarded in Tarkov and you can lone wolf your way through should you choose. Gray Zone Warrior is an out-and-out squad-based game and you better stick to your roles or face getting taken apart.
Both games require you to top up your health with food and water regularly but Tarkov encourages more scavenging. GZW on the other hand is brutal in that if you don’t regularly take on nutrition especially if injured, you will just die. End of.
GZW vs Tarkov combat
Let’s get this out of the way, bot are tough games to survive in. Tarkov these days is rough as people have been playing it for so long. Dropping into Trakov as a new player today can be a frustrating unpleasant experience. Fortnite it is not.
Tarkov is predominantly all about the PvP whereas in Gray Zone Warrior literally everybody apart from your squad is trying to off you – humans, AI bots with unerring accuracy. Stick your head up for too long and it’s getting blown off either way. This accuracy may be one of the first things to get tweaked down as the patches start to roll in. At the moment it feels a little too frustrating.

Is Gray Zone Warfare any good?
Yes, it is and potentially it could turn out to be very good. If people can stick with it and just keep kicking out at every issue that rears its head in the first few hours it could be a success. Steam reviews mean a lot to games and it is just full of people bitching about bad server connections from day one, it could kill it off before it starts. We have high hopes this doesn’t happen though and we look forward to seeing you in the jungle.
