US presidential candidate RFK to speak at crypto conference

Independent U.S. presidential candidate known for his pro-cryptocurrency stance Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is set to speak at the upcoming Consensus 2024 crypto conference in Austin, Texas.
Kennedy will explain his support for cryptocurrency and self-custody at the event, according to a press release from crypto news outlet and the event’s organizer Coindesk. He said:
I’m looking forward to speaking later this month at Consensus 2024. I am determined to keep America the world leader in blockchain innovation. […] We can’t allow hostile regulators to drive this technology abroad.
Kennedy — an environmental lawyer and member of the prominent Democratic Kennedy family — has taken a position on crypto much different from his Democratic counterparts. While many Democrats remain skeptical or opposed to cryptocurrencies, Kennedy has openly embraced them in his campaign. He recently has gone as far as vowing to back the dollar with Bitcoin (BTC) and exempt the cryptocurrency from taxes if elected.
A pro-crypto democrat?
Kennedy is polling significantly behind the presumptive Republican and Democratic candidates, Donald Trump and incumbent Joe Biden, respectively. Kennedy decided to run as an independent candidate after failing to gain traction in the Democratic primary.
The endorsement of cryptocurrency by a member of the Kennedy family, known for their strong Democratic roots, is a surprising piece of trivia. John F. Kennedy — the current candidate’s uncle — served as the U.S. president in the 1960s, while his father, Robert F. Kennedy, served as the U.S. Attorney General during that administration before running for president himself.
As the 2024 U.S. presidential election approaches, the topic of cryptocurrency has become increasingly politicized, with Republicans generally being more pro-crypto compared to Democrats. Current United States President Joe Biden caused an outcry from the crypto industry with a recently proposed 30% tax on crypto mining power and faced criticism for potentially harming the industry and erasing investor wealth.
Crypto has seen increasing pressure from United States regulators over the past years. At the end of 2023, United States publicly traded exchange Coinbase petitioned the SEC for crypto-specific rules that would make it clearer what is expected from crypto companies — but the regulator rejected the request.

Apple unveils iPad with AI capabilities and ‘outrageously powerful’ M4 chip

Apple has revealed its new iPad Air with AI capabilities, which they say is “more powerful and versatile than ever”.
During a pre-recorded live stream from its headquarters in Cupertino, California, the company unveiled the newest iterations of its iPad Pro and iPad Air tablets, along with the introduction of the brand-new Apple Pencil Pro.
CEO Tim Cook said on Tuesday (May 7), that it was “the biggest day for iPad since its introduction.”

The centerpiece of the new iPad Pro is Apple’s freshly designed M4 processor, boasting four times the performance of its predecessors. Notably, while Apple’s current MacBook lineup uses the M3 chip, CEO Cook stated that it was an “outrageously powerful chip for AI.”
The company is anticipated to unveil its initial set of AI tools for the iPhone and iPad at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference in June. However, it remains uncertain which AI capabilities the new M4 chips could enable.
What features do the new Apple products have?
Apple announced that the iPad Pro, its premium model, will feature upgraded displays and will start at $1,000 for the 11-inch (27.9-centimeter) variant and $1,300 for the 13-inch model.
It also introduced new versions of its mid-range iPad Air, now available in a larger 13-inch screen size priced at $800, along with the existing 11-inch option, which previously retailed at $600. These tablets are equipped with Apple’s M2 chip, which was first introduced in Apple’s MacBooks in 2022.

— Greg Joswiak (@gregjoz) May 7, 2024

Johny Srouji, Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Technologies said that the power-efficient performance of its AI M4 chip, along with its new display engine, makes the thin design and game-changing display of iPad Pro possible. Fundamental improvements to the CPU, GPU, Neural Engine, and memory system make M4 “extremely well suited” for the latest applications leveraging AI. He added: “Altogether, this new chip makes iPad Pro the most powerful device of its kind.”
Meanwhile, an upgraded Apple Pencil now features a new squeeze function, enabling users to access tools, customize drawing layers, and receive haptic feedback while working. It also supports Find My, assisting in locating the pencil if it gets misplaced. It will retail for $129.
iPad sales dropped 10 per cent in 2023 to $6.44 billion, while Mac revenue declined 34 per cent to $7.61 billion. The products now jointly account for only 15 per cent of Apple’s total sales – down significantly in recent years. Services have rapidly grown to represent a much larger business for Apple. The tech giant also reported last week a first-quarter revenue of $90.8 billion, down 4 per cent year over year.

Where to find G-Rock in Hades 2

Sounding a bit like a semi-famous rapper, G-Rock is currently one of the most sought-after items in the early access versions of Hades 2 at the moment. The game has a few rare resources that your run can depend on, and knowing at least where they are beforehand can make a lot of difference in a playthrough.
As G-Rock – or Glassrock to give it its proper name is so tricky to get your hellish hands on, let’s wander out there together and see if we can make it any easier for you.
How to get G Rock
Right, don’t be thinking this is going to be easy because it is not going to be. You have two bosses to defeat en route and even if you have panicked and activated God Mode this is not a day trip.
G-Rock or Glassrock is found in veins in the Mourning Fields. When you eventually get there you are looking for sharp, black rock coming out of the ground. Presumably, it is Obsidian as that is a naturally occurring volcanic glass. Presumably, somebody thought G Rock sounded way cooler.
Before you even get to the Mourning Fields though you will encounter, and have to defeat the Scylla and the Sirens boss (that sounds like an awful 80s band name).
For every vein you found you can farm three pieces of G-Rock and if you are struggling to find it, use the the Reagent Sensing incantation before you set out and it will tip you off with an audible alert when any is close by.
What is G Rock?
When you start out a new game of Hades 2 a total of four of the game’s five weapons are available to you. The fifth, the Argent Skull is not. To craft it you need a little sprinkling of G Rock, and therefore finding it is essential to complete your arsenal.

‘Feel the burn’ marketing tag ages very poorly — and very quickly — following Xbox studio closures

Microsoft has changed the tagline for a new Xbox wireless controller due to significant backlash after it closed down four studios.
The tagline “Feel the Burn Today” appeared in a Xbox blog post for the new Fire Vapor Special Edition Controller right around the time Microsoft itself reported that it would be closing four games development studios. Social media users immediately noted the poor timing, and Microsoft backtracked in acknowledgement of it.

So Microsoft changed the word “feel the burn today” to hold onto the heat

Microsoft really announced a controller with the headline “FEEL THE BURN TODAY” AFTER CLOSING 4 STUDIOS? WHAT THE HELL?! https://t.co/sE8dZE6lKr pic.twitter.com/z2ockQE7G3

“Feel the burn today”
I don’t think this statement is figurative, considering today’s news. Xbox literally want us to burn in hell pic.twitter.com/CMD7PkOyUD

On May 7, Xbox Game Studios announced the closure of Arkane Austin and Tango Gameworks and the loss of all jobs there. Two other studios were shuttered, according to an email Matt Booty, the head of Xbox Game Studios, sent to employees.

— Tango Gameworks (EN) (@TangoGameworks) May 7, 2024

The closure has resulted in the cancellation of post-launch support for Redfall, including any DLC expansions. However, Arkane Studios, headquartered in Lyon, France, will continue to operate. The supernatural shooter launched by Arkane Austin in May 2023 is officially done and will not receive any post-launch support, including the two DLC characters that Xbox had promised at the time of release.
After unveiling the new game controller and publishing the tagline, Microsoft discreetly updated the Xbox Wire blog post for the controller. The original title, “Feel the Burn Today with the Fire Vapor Special Edition Controller,” was changed to a more generic one announcing a new color variant in the ongoing Vapor series of Xbox wireless controllers.
Microsoft is among several companies that have made major layoffs in its gaming division, cutting around 1,900 workers from its Xbox, Activision Blizzard, and ZeniMax teams in January.
Anger in the gaming industry
Shortly after the news broke, Arkane Lyon boss Dinga Bakaba shared an impassioned thread, describing the situation as “a f***ing gut stab”. He added: “Don’t throw us into gold fever gambits, don’t use us as strawmen for miscalculations/blind spots, don’t make our work environments darwinist jungles.”

This is absolutely terrible. Permission to be human : to any executive reading this, friendly reminder that video games are an entertainment/cultural industry, and your business as a corporation is to take care of your artists/entertainers and help them create value for you.

Angry. Frustrated. Shocked. Furious. Speechless. Dumbfounded. Perplexed.
I have so much love for the studios affected. The people that made those teams were incredible, hard working, dedicated, and talented.
This is horrible.

Bethesda’s regional director Alistair Hatch stated he was “Angry. Frustrated. Shocked. Furious. Speechless. Dumbfounded. Perplexed.”

Community Day for the mobile-based version of the Nintendo classic game increases the chance of snagging a shiny version of these rare Pokemon. So, getting the lures and tactics right to grab as many Pokémon as possible within the limited event window is key.
Through event challenges, trainers can toss their digital Pokeballs and hope the clasp stays shut. As a bonus, if you evolve Bonusweet to Steenee, trainers will get “a Tsareena that knows the Charged Attack High Jump Kick,” according to the announcement.
The event also features a paid-for Community Day Special Research Story, which is purchasable via the Pokemon Go! Site. This gives access to the following event bonuses:

The event will be a chance for Ninatic to banish the hilarious bugs that had been present in the game. After a recent update, Godzilla-esque giant feet were seen dominating the screens of the monster-hunting game.
This was in addition to a more significant update to Niantic’s popular Pokémon title, which enhanced graphics and the game’s photo mode.
Trainers hoping to participate in this month’s Pokémon GO! May Community Day can do so on May 19, 2pm to 5pm local time.
