Grand Theft Auto VI now set for fall 2025 release

Rockstar Games and publisher Take-Two Interactive have set out a timeline of late next year for the release of Grand Theft Auto 6.
The information was shared by Take-Two as part of the company’s latest earnings report, following on from a previous tentative aim for 2025 for the new edition. Straus Zelnick, CEO of the video games firm, told IGN, “We do feel highly confident that we’ll deliver (GTA VI) in fall of 2025”.
Internal rumblings and discord over Rockstar’s return to office policy had led to speculation of a delay until 2026.
The official reveal from Rockstar Games landed last December, with the opening trailer becoming the most-viewed game release on YouTube within the first day. The new game is set in contemporary Leonida, a fictional take on the sunshine state of Florida, backed up not only by the reimagining of Miami clone Vice City, but also swamplands, real-life events, and various key areas in the state.

GTA VI to deliver “unparalleled” experience
Players will control Lucia and an unnamed male character, rumored to be called Jason. Both of these appear to be criminals, wanting to secure a quick buck in whatever way possible.
A bullish forecast was presented by Take-Two on the earnings report, with the company “highly confident that Rockstar Games will deliver an unparalleled entertainment experience.”
The statement added “Our expectations for the commercial impact of the title continue to increase”, with a further expectation of “tremendous growth” in net bookings up to 2027.
If a fall release transpires for Grand Theft Auto 6, it will hit the market almost exactly 12 years after the launch of Grand Theft Auto 5.
That renowned title was a runaway success, soaring to a remarkable 200-million plus sales so the optimism for the upcoming release and future prospects of the company are understandable and justified.

New leaked images shed light on Deadlock, an upcoming Valve hero shooter

Valve, who in part pioneered the hero shooter genre with the popular Team Fortress 2, is rumored to be developing a new game in the genre, called Deadlock. The game has been in development since 2018 and has been through multiple renames and style changes.
Leakers have said that Deadlock will be a third-person shooter with MOBA and tower defense elements in a fantasy/steampunk setting. Maps will be large and heroes will have unique abilities along the lines of Overwatch. There are currently several hundred pre-alpha players testing out the game.
Multiplayer squad-based third-person shooters are part of a very popular genre. Overwatch, Apex Legends, and Valorant are all highly successful games, and it makes sense that Valve, with that TF2 pedigree, would want to reclaim its place in the pantheon. Even Marvel is getting in on the action with Marvel Rivals.
Leaked screenshots show large environments and a Hero named Grey Talon, who appears to be a sniper-style character with long-range accurate shots, likely to be weaker in close combat.

Since testers started sharing Deadlock screenshots all over the place, here’s ones I can verify, featuring one of the heroes called Grey Talon. pic.twitter.com/KdZSRxObSz
— ‎Gabe Follower (@gabefollower) May 17, 2024

What will Deadlock entail?
The leaker, a Valve-based content creator, also shared, “Deadlock. Next Valve game. Previously known as Neon Prime, Citadel. Competitive third person hero-based shooter. 6 vs 6 battling on huge map with 4 lanes. Usable abilities and items. Tower defense mechanics. Fantasy setting mixed with steampunk. Magicians, weird creatures and robots. Fast travel using floating rails, similar to Bioshock Infinite.”
He continued, “Basically, fast-paced interesting ADHD gameplay. Combination of Dota 2, Team Fortress 2, Overwatch, Valorant, Smite, Orcs Must Die.
“Hero design pretty much inspired by Dota universe. Main map references modern steampunk European city (little bit like Half-Life). Initially game had sci-fi elements inspired by Half-Life and Portal, but after bad feedback dev team decided to focus on fantasy.”
While some may consider the heyday of hero shooters to be in the rearview mirror, recent information released by EA about Apex Legends suggests otherwise – the free-to-play game has raked in over $3.4 billion for the company purely on cosmetics alone.
If Valve can capture the joy and frenetic fun they brought to the table with Team Fortress 2 in Deadlock, they might just be on to a winner. Tyler McVicker (formally Valve News Network) speculates that it might even out within months for us to find out for ourselves.

Best AI Cryptocurrencies to Buy Now: Render (RNDR), Near Protocol (NEAR) and These Cryptos

Following the release of a crucial CPI report this week, the crypto market experienced a recovery. However, it was the AI cryptocurrencies that stole the spotlight, producing the most gains. Despite a recent market cooldown over the past couple of days, investors are now actively seeking out the top artificial intelligence (AI) cryptos to buy.
Prithvir, an analyst with a following of approximately 5,000 on X (formerly Twitter), has shared insightful analysis related to AI cryptocurrencies. Let’s delve into his insights.
Render (RNDR), Near Protocol (NEAR), and Other Top AI Cryptocurrencies to Buy Now in 2024: Expert Analysis
Prithvir highlighted several catalysts driving the AI crypto market. These catalysts could set the stage for an upswing in AI-related cryptocurrencies.
First off, all eyes will be on NVIDIA’s earnings report on May 22nd, as the company’s performance is closely tied to the growth and adoption of AI technologies. Additionally, the much-anticipated GPT-4o announcement from ChatGPT on May 13th has already generated considerable buzz, with investors closely monitoring the impact on AI-focused projects.
Tech giants are also poised to make their mark in the AI arena. Google’s I/O conference on May 14th is expected to unveil new AI initiatives, while Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will likely shed light on the company’s AI focus.
Moreover, the potential launch of GPT-4 by OpenAI at the end of June could be a pivotal moment, further fueling interest and investment in AI-driven cryptocurrencies. These back-to-back catalysts have the potential to create a perfect storm for AI-related tokens, setting the stage for price movements

How to Profit from AI Coins this Month 👀
I’ll cover:– AI catalysts– Tokens affected by these catalysts– My personal picks
Dive in for some real alfa
1) AI Catalysts:

Then, Prithvir provided insights into various AI-related tokens that might be affected with these catalysts.
WLD: The main proxy for OpenAI due to its association with Sam Altman. The GPT-4o announcement was a “sell the news” event, with the price down 20% over the past week. He advised against trading this token due to its high fully diluted valuation (FDV) and the risks associated with longing and shorting.
OLAS: A 2023 favorite AI agent coin that has since lost some momentum, although it remains active on the Gnosis chain. Prithvir questions whether it can make a comeback.
SPEC: A trader favorite AI agent coin over the past month, which pumped from $5 to $15 in two weeks but has since returned to $8. He cautioned against trading this token due to its absurdly high FDV close to $1 billion.
FET, AGIX, OCEAN, and ASI: These coins seem richly valued now and are no longer leading AI runs, suggesting limited upside potential for the time being.
Prithvir’s personal picks: a) RNDR (Render): Prithvir considers Render one of the easiest longs heading into NVIDIA-related news and Apple news due to comparisons of GPU networks and the rendering software Render has built, which Apple often features at different keynotes. He sees this as a good swing trade leading up to WWDC, with a time period of three weeks.

b) AR: A fully diluted coin with a strong team pivoting to AI with the launch of AO Computer. Prithvir considers it a “chad team” with Tier-1 exchange listings, making it a “no-brainer medium-term hold” and his biggest AI coin holding currently.
c) NEAR: A smaller position than AR due to more limited upside, but Prithvir believes it could become one of the consensus AI trades of this cycle due to its brand value, good liquidity, and innovations in other sectors such as Chain Abstraction.
All in all, Prithvir advises focusing on AI coins during periods of catalysts, avoiding coins with predatory tokenomics and inflated FDVs, and prioritizing quality projects with strong teams, sustainable tokenomics, and working products.

$25M in 12 seconds: MIT hacker brothers arrested in the US

Two brothers who attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) were arrested on Wednesday, facing charges for an innovative scheme that exploited the maximum extractable value (MEV) bots on the Ethereum (ETH) blockchain and gained $25 million in 12 seconds.
Anton Peraire-Bueno, 24, and James Peraire-Bueno, 28, are accused of perpetrating a fraud that federal prosecutors in Manhattan described as “novel,” marking the first time such a case has been the subject of criminal charges in the U.S. In a press release published by the Office of Public Affairs, U.S. Attorney Damian Williams emphasized the severity of the alleged scheme:
As we allege, the defendants’ scheme calls the very integrity of the blockchain into question.
The brothers, who studied computer science and math at MIT, are charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering.
A carefully planned operation
According to the indictment, the Peraire-Bueno brothers spent months plotting to manipulate and tamper with the protocols used to validate transactions on the Ethereum blockchain. They exploited a middleware called MEV-boost, which is used by most Ethereum network “validators” responsible for verifying the validity of new transactions before they are added to the blockchain.
The conspirators established a series of Ethereum validators, deployed bait transactions to attract MEV bots and then leveraging a vulnerability in MEV-boost to prematurely release escrow content. After successfully carrying out the heist, the brothers allegedly rejected requests to return the funds and instead took steps to launder and conceal the stolen cryptocurrency.
The development follows the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) requesting comment for three Ethereum (ETH) spot exchange-traded fund (ETF) proposals submitted by Grayscale Investments, Fidelity, and Bitwise back in early April. In early May, such a product was launched in Hong Kong.

Tales of the Shire: A Lord of the Rings Game: Everything we know so far

When you devote even one second to thinking about the premise of Tales of the Shire – a cozy, gentle romp through J. R. R. Tolkien’s bucolic Shire, a sort of Lord of the Rings meets Animal Crossing – it becomes astonishing that it hasn’t been attempted before now. Luckily for us though, someone finally realized they were sitting on what could possibly be the biggest goldmine since Hogwarts Legacy, and the game is coming.

So far, Private Division has released two trailers and a clip for the game, and we can learn a lot from them, especially the official announcement trailer. Alongside interviews and blog posts by people from developers Wētā Workshop, we can start to piece together a pretty good idea of what this game will look like, so without further ado…
What will be in Tales of the Shire?
While there hasn’t been an official gameplay trailer as yet so we can’t know for sure what the gameplay elements will look like and how the user interfaces will be set up, we do have a fair bit of info on what kind of things you can expect to be doing in the game.
Tales of the Shire plot
It’s fairly common for cozy games of this ilk to have a very hands-off plot if it has one at all, and for them to be pretty open-ended. In Tales of the Shire’s plot, you ostensibly have a goal – bring the Bywater community together and have it confirmed as an official village by throwing the greatest Bywater festival in the history of the Shire.
In an interview with Nerd of the Rings, the game’s art director Steve Lambert has said that Wētā really refocused its lens on Tolkeins’s world to create Tales of the Shire, taking inspiration from childhood memories of how it felt to read The Hobbit. He said to expect a more “childlike, storybook” experience than Lord of the Rings might mean to you currently. The Hobbit was a children’s story, of course. We are unlikely to see any combat or even any hunting in the game, and probably none of the pipeweed Hobbits are infamous for enjoying.
The game was written by Darren Ormandy, who is a Tolkien scholar who taught on the author’s works in Oxford, so the Middle-earth canon is in good hands. He’s worked hard to keep the world as expected while still creating an engaging game for players.
At this point, it isn’t clear whether there will be any time pressure in the game (three weeks until the festival to get everything done! three days! three hours before the festival starts!) or how big of a deal the festival will be to gameplay. We also don’t know if the game will continue beyond the festival in a kind of sandbox mode or if it marks a hard cut-off point as an end to the game.
We do know quite a few things players will be able to do with the time that is given to them, though. (No, I’m not sorry for misquoting Gandalf)

Customizable characters and homes
A staple of the genre, Tales of the Shire will allow players to design their own Hobbit characters to explore the world with. There is also a Hobbit hole that can be decorated and customized to your heart’s content – the trailer showed multiple different options for what furniture you can have and what it looks like. According to a Wētā Workshop blog post, there will be “an array of customizations”, so hopefully this means tons of options.
We haven’t seen the character creator in any detail yet, but expect a variety of brightly colored clothes, Hobbit feet, and smiling faces to choose from.
Fishing, foraging, and farming
It seems that a lot of the game will be spent performing these activities. Again, we have very little to go on, gameplay-wise, so we don’t know yet if there’s going to be a fishing minigame (which seems inevitable) or even a farming or foraging minigame! We just know that food is a vital part of Hobbit culture, which leads us to…
Cooking and friendships
There’s got to be something to do with all those ingredients, and judging by the prominence it was given in the trailer, cooking is going to be a pretty key element of the game. It was heavily implied that the game’s cooking system and the friendship/relationship systems will be closely intertwined and that cooking and sharing food will be pivotal in forming bonds.
What consoles will Tales of the Shire be on?
It seems like Private Division and Wētā Workshop are going for broad appeal and the game will be available on all modern platforms including Nintendo Switch, PC (through Steam), Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. No exclusives here – Tales of the Shire is for everyone.
When will Tales of the Shire come out?
At the moment there’s no solid Tales of the Shire release date that we can point to beyond 2024. Assuming there are no delays, we can probably narrow it down to being a later in the year, possibly even around Christmas release. Considering that it’s mid-May at the time of writing and we haven’t got a gameplay trailer or a release date, don’t expect it in the summer. Games like this will want to give plenty of run-up to release to really capitalize on the hype. Besides, doesn’t a cozy Hobbit game sound like a perfect Christmas present?
